Jalandhar October 6 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- NSS Unit & Red Ribbon Club of Lyallpur Khalsa College in collaboration with Blood Bank, S.G.L. Hospital, Jalandhar organized a One Day Blood Donation Camp in the college campus. Principal Dr. Rashpal Singh Sandhu inaugurated the camp and motivated the participants to donate blood. He opined that despite India being the world’s most populated country, very few donors come forward to donate blood. The donor’s percentage is very less in comparison to the demand of blood.
He added that blood is required mostly for victims of road accidents, thalassemia patients and other medical surgeries. Some patients fail to get required blood in due time. He opined that blood donation is the supreme donation and NSS unit LKC is doing true service to humanity by organising such events. NSS Chief Program officer Prof. Satpal Singh informed that NSS volunteers held placards to motivate the students to donate blood.
Total 48 units were collected during the camp and around 100 students and staff members got their hemoglobin checked. Prof. Harshveer Arora, Prof. Sarbjit Kaur, Prof. Sonu Gupta, Prof. Ritika also donated blood. The event was monitored by Dr. Mukul Chopra Medical Suptd. SGL Hospital and Ms. Navjot Kaur, Sr. Nursing Suptd. The camp was witnessed by Prof. Ranju Mahajan, Prof. Upma, Prof. Surbjit Singh, Prof. Navneet Kaur and NSS volunteers.
