Jalandhar November 5 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- The 33rd Mela Ghadri Babyan Da, being held on November 7, 8, and 9, will focus on burning issues this year.

Desh Bhagat Yadgar Committee President Ajmer Singh, General Secretary Prithipal Singh Marhi Megha, Assistant Secretary Charanjit Lal Kanganival, Cultural Wing Convenor Amolak Singh, and Committee Treasurer Sital Singh Sangha addressed a press conference today. They announced that the festival will be dedicated to struggles against corporatization and fascism.

On November 9 (Saturday) at 10 AM, committee member Hardev Arshi will perform the flag-hoisting ceremony of the Ghadar Party flag. Following this, They informed that around 100 artists will present the flag song ‘Mela Ki Kehinda’ (What Does the Festival Say), an operatic composition written by Amolak Singh, under the direction of Satpal (Patiala) and Krantipal (Beas).

A workshop for the flag song has already begun in Desh Bhagat Memorial Hall.
On November 9 afternoon, world-renowned scholar Arundhati Roy and NewsClick founder-editor Prabir will address the gathering. At 4 PM the same day, committee representatives Jagroop, Raminder Patiala, Sukhwinder Sekhon, Kulwant Sandhu, Vijay Bambeli, and Dr. Parminder will speak on the topic of ‘Agricultural and Water Crisis’. Prof. Gopal Buttar will conduct the stage.

On November 9 at 6:30 PM, following Committee President Ajmer Singh’s address, there will be an all-night theatrical presentation featuring plays: ‘Poster’ (Chakresh Chandigarh), ‘Dharti Di Dhi: Antigone’ (Kewal Dhaliwal), ‘Gumshuda Aurat’ (Anita Shabdish), ‘Rakha’ (Balraj Sagar), ‘Haner Nagri’ (Jaswinder Pappi), and IPTA’s Avtar Charik and companions will present ‘Bhand Mele Aaye’.

This premier day and night will have its special flavor of music and songs. It will feature revolutionary ballads by Rasulpur Kavishri Group (Swaran Dhaliwal), Folk Music Group Bhadaur (Master Ram Kumar), Dastak Manch (Sara), Khalsa College Garhdiwal (Gurpinder Singh), Dharminder Masani, Nargis, Amrit Lalour and other singers.
During the festival days, the entire complex of Desh Bhagat Memorial Hall will be renamed as follows: ‘Kanshi Ram Maroli Nagar’ after Ghadar Party’s first treasurer, the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Auditorium as ‘Ajit Singh Pandal’ after the founder of the Pagri Sambhal Movement, and the Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha stage will be named ‘Julius Fucik Book Exhibition Pandal’ after the world-renowned anti-fascist fighter.

On November 7 at 2 PM, there will be an inauguration and honors ceremony for art and photography exhibitions. In the Julius Fucik Book Exhibition Pandal itself, on the first day (November 7, Friday) at exactly 4 PM, there will be a discussion on ‘Book Culture’ paying tribute to the Russian Revolution anniversary. There will also be discussions referencing the 100th year of ‘Phulwari’. On this occasion, recently departed writers and poets including Surjit Patar, Smt. Kailash Kaur, Iqbal Khan, Amarjit Rasulpuri, Kuldeep Jaloor, Harbans Heon and others will be remembered.

The quiz competition will be based on the book ‘Kirti Vartak

On November 8 (Saturday) morning, quiz, painting, singing, and speech competitions will be held in different halls. The quiz competition will be based on the book ‘Kirti Vartak: Shahidi Jeevanian’ (edited by Charanji Lal Kanganival). There will be discussions with students about scientific thinking and children will present the play ‘Jallianwala Bagh’. At 2 PM in Baba Jawala Singh Hall, there will be a discussion on three new criminal and black laws, their intentions, deadly effects, and public voice against them.

Prominent scholars Advocate Rajinder Singh Cheema and Apoorvan and will be the main speakers. At 4 PM there will be a poetry recital, and at 6 PM the film ‘Mati Ke Lal’ will be screened. Filmmaker Sanjay Kak will address the gathering.

Langar services will be primarily organized by villages of Ghadar patriots under the leadership of Prithipal Singh Marhi Megha, Ranjit Singh Aulakh, and Rajinder Mand. The tea langar during the night of plays will be organized by Bharatiya Kisan Union Ekta Ugrahan.

Committee members Surinder Kumari Kochhar, Ranjit Singh Aulakh, Gurmeet Singh, Kulbir Sanghera, and Harvinder Bhandal were also present at the press conference.

The Desh Bhagat Committee has appealed to all public democratic organizations and personalities to participate in the festival with their families and provide support in every way.

The committee leaders welcomed and provided meaningful answers to questions raised during the press conference.
