Jalandhar August 31 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Dr. Sumit Singh ‘Padam’, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Music at Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar, as well as an artist, was invited by SPIC MACAY to participate in a four-day workshop held in Hindaun City, Rajasthan. During this four-day visit, Dr. Sumit visited several schools, including various government schools and introduced the students to the rich tradition of Indian classical music and provided insights into various aspects of the art form through engaging presentations and interactive sessions. Students were provided with important information about the sitar and Indian classical music, and practical guidance was also offered to those interested in learning the instrument.
Sharing his experience, Dr. Sumit described it as deeply enriching and fulfilling. He had the opportunity to interact directly with young students and inspire them to connect with India’s rich cultural and musical heritage. He remarked that representing Apeejay College of Fine Arts through a prestigious platform like SPIC MACAY was a matter of pride and happiness for him.
On this occasion, while congratulating Dr. Sumit, Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra expressed the hope that he would continue to advance in the field of his instrument , Sitar and continue to prove his excellence in the future—not only at the national level but also on the international stage. Dr. Sumit attributed his success to Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra, Cultural Advisor Dr. Arun Mishra, and Dean (Youth Festivals) Dr. Amita Mishra. He stated that their constant encouragement, guidance, and support played a pivotal role in promoting Indian classical music and in providing artists and teachers opportunities to share their art and knowledge with the younger generation.
