Jalandhar October 10 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- PG Department of Zoology, Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya (HMV), Jalandhar, organised a series of activities to mark Wildlife Week 2026 under the visionary guidance of Principal, Dr. (Mrs.) Ekta Khosla. The programme aimed at creating awareness among students about the importance of wildlife conservation, biodiversity, and the need to protect natural habitats for a sustainable future. The competitive events organised for students included Poster Making and Slogan Writing Competitions, which provided students with a platform to express their ideas and concerns regarding wildlife conservation through art and impactful messages.
Students also delivered PowerPoint presentations on the theme of Wildlife Week 2026 “Connecting Habitats, Thriving Wildlife”, highlighting various aspects of wildlife diversity, conservation challenges, endangered species, and the role of human beings in protecting the natural world. As part of the programme, a virtual tour of a Zoological park was also organised for the students, providing them with an opportunity to observe various animal species and learn about their habitats, behaviour and conservation status.

On the occasion, Dr. Seema Marwaha, Dean Academics and Head, PG Department of Zoology, emphasised the significance of wildlife conservation and stated that awareness and education are essential for developing a responsible and environmentally conscious society. Madam Principal, Dr. (Mrs.) Ekta Khosla, appreciated the efforts of the Department in organising the event and engaging students in meaningful activities. She highlighted the importance of inculcating environmental sensitivity among the students and encouraged them to become responsible ambassadors of wildlife and nature conservation.
Dr. Sakshi Verma, Mr. Ravi Kumar, and Mrs. Shikha Verma, Assistant Professors in the PG Department of Zoology, served as the conveners of the event and coordinated the various activities successfully. The event was attended by Heads of various Departments and other faculty members of the Science, who appreciated the initiative and encouraged the students for their enthusiastic participation. The prize winners were awarded and e-certificates were given to all the participants. Lab technician, Mr. Sachin assisted in making all arrangements for the event.
