Jalandhar May 15 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- At Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar, students who have recently taken their 12th grade exams have made the most of their transitional phase by engaging in thoughtfully designed skill enhancement classes offered by college free of cost. These sessions offered a unique opportunity for students to recognize their innate talents and refine them under expert guidance, transforming their leisure time into a platform for creative and personal growth.
Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra expressed her pride in the enthusiastic participation of the students, stating, “Our vision behind initiating these classes was to encourage students to explore their creative potential during the period between their exams and results. I am delighted to see how passionately they responded, immersing themselves in every session and embracing the chance to discover their hidden abilities.”
In the Sketch and Paint Like an Artist class, under the mentorship of Mr. Harmanjit Singh, students delved into the world of visual art. They explored the fundamentals of still life, portraiture, landscape art, and the use of mediums such as oil and oil pastels—developing both skill and artistic expression.
The Modern Media Anchoring and Digital Storytelling course, led by Mr. Mohit Rubal, introduced students to the intricacies of script writing, voice modulation, and the effective use of digital platforms—equipping them with valuable tools for today’s media-driven world.
In the realm of performing arts, the Kathak and Contemporary Dance sessions, facilitated by Mr. Hiten, allowed students to master expressions and rhythm in classical dance, while also embracing body language, flexibility, and innovative techniques in contemporary choreography.

Under the guidance of Dr. Sumit Singh, Dr. Harmik Singh, and Mr. Sanjeev, students explored genres like Indian classical, semi-classical, Sufi, and light music. They were introduced to essential concepts such as swar, alankar, ragas, and taals. Instrumental training included both Indian instruments like the sitar and sarangi, and Western instruments like the guitar and piano—emphasizing scales, notes, and chords.
Dr. Dhingra also acknowledged the dedicated efforts of Ms. Rajni Gupta and Dr. Seema Sharma, whose meticulous planning and coordination ensured the smooth and successful execution of these enriching classes.
