Jalandhar October 7 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- All departments at Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar, regularly organize workshops on significant topics to enable students to gain practical knowledge in specific fields. As part of this series, the MAC Forum of the college’s PG Department of Commerce and Management organized a one-day workshop on “Visualization and Generative AI for Business Decision Making.” Dr. Kapil Gupta, an Assistant Professor at I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University, attended this workshop as a resource person.
While interacting with the students on the subject, Dr. Gupta explained in detail the functions of Cognitive AI—such as reasoning and problem-solving—and provided insights into Generative AI, Agentic AI, Computer Vision, and Predictive Analytics, along with their real-world applications. He discussed prompt engineering, context control, task-based commands, and data grounding while also addressing risks such as data leaks, bias, and over-reliance, as a part of his debrief on the seven principles of Responsible AI. Dr. Kapil taught how to create interactive Tableau dashboards from raw data without requiring coding knowledge and placed special emphasis on raising awareness regarding the ethical use of AI.
While expressing gratitude to Dr. Kapil Gupta, Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra remarked that it was truly remarkable how he explained such a technical subject to the students in such simple terms; she added that the students would certainly benefit from the knowledge he shared and that the institution would continue to invite him for future sessions on this topic. While highly appreciating the efforts of Dr. Monika Mogla, Head of the Commerce Department, and Ms. Garima Arora, Incharge of the MAC Forum, she expressed the hope that they would continue to organize workshops on such contemporary topics in the future as well.
