Week-long Student Exchange Programme initiated at HMV with Nehru Arts and Science College, Coimbatore

Jalandhar March 22 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar known for its innovative and pioneering initiatives, organized a week-long Student Exchange Programme (as a part of the MOU signed between the two institutions) from 21st to 27th March 2025 under the visionary guidance of Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen. The programme witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 21 students from Nehru Arts and Science College, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, accompanied by their mentors, Dr. Smitha C.R., HOD of Malayalam Department and Director of the Centre for Indian Knowledge System, and Ms. R. Malthi, Associate Professor and Head of the English Department, as well as Director of the Centre for Culture, Heritage, and Human Excellence.

The delegation was warmly received by Programme Coordinator Dr. Ramnita Saini Sharda and the faculty members of HMV. In keeping with Indian traditions, the guests were greeted with a ceremonial Tilak, symbolizing respect and hospitality. To further strengthen the bonds of friendship, HMV’s faculty and students tied traditional friendship bands on the wrists of all guests. The formal welcome took place at Elite 2025, a prestigious event organized by the PG Department of Commerce. Principal Dr. Ajay Sareen offered a green welcome to the visiting team by presenting planters, reflecting HMV’s commitment to sustainability.

In her address, Dr. Sareen highlighted HMV’s remarkable contributions to academics, sports, and cultural excellence, emphasizing the institution’s focus on holistic development. She acknowledged the dedication of the faculty, who work passionately to instill the same zeal in their students. Later in the evening, the team visited the sacred Devi Talab Temple, where they paid obeisance and experienced the cultural heritage of the region. The student exchange programme not only provided a platform for cultural interaction and academic exchange but also fostered enduring friendships between the two institutions. The week-long event was a testament to HMV’s unwavering commitment to nurturing global perspectives while preserving Indian values.
