Students learned to make Home Decor items from waste material at Apeejay College of Fine Arts

Jalandhar April 29 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- In the ‘Home Decor with waste material’ classes conducted by the Department of Interior Design of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar as Skill Enhancement classes for 12th standard, students learnt how to make various decorative items from waste material.

Expressing her views, Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra said, ” These classes are the opportunity for the students to learn about making things useful in an artistic and aesthetic way. This is not only about recycling the things but also it reduces the accumulation of garbage and thus protects environment. She added one can often find things at home which aren’t used but are often in good condition. These classes prove to be useful in this regard where they can use those things productively and at the same time enhance the beauty of their homes.

Ms. Rajni Kumar and Ms Harshita Arora of Interiors taught students to make pots with jute and clay, lamps, wall hangings with bamboo sticks, cardboard and jute. They also learned to design things as per the theme of the event. Sharing their experience about these classes, the students said,”We never thought that we can make decorative items by re-using the waste material lying at home but these classes taught us various ways of doing so.
