Jalandhar September 21 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- A special program was organized under the banner of Post Graduation Dance Department of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya Jalandhar under the direction of Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen. A special dance program organized in association with the Indira Gandhi National Center for Art was organized in which Dr. Ashish Mohan Khokhar was the chief guest. Mr. Deepak Bali, President of Samaj Sevi and Harivallabh Sangeet Sammelan, was the chief guest.
Famous Kathak artist Vishwadeep captivated everyone by performing Kathak dance. At the beginning of the program, the ceremony of lamp lighting was followed by a welcome with a green planter.

Later, the convener of this program, Dr. Ramnita Sharda, informed about this program. She gave information about Dr. Ashish Khokhar and his father Mr. Mohan Khokhar. She said that Mr. Ashish Khokhar has written 51 books and has written more than 5000 research papers related to Indian classical dance and other arts. He is a diligent personality from whom students should take inspiration.
Welcoming Mr. Deepak Bali ji, who arrived as a special guest in the program, Dr. Ramnita said that he is associated with social service, music service and art. Principal Dr. Ajay Sareen while welcoming the chief guest and special guest described them as personalities associated with the art field and appreciated the work done by Dr. Ashish Mohan Khokhar and described his personality as an inspiration for the students. She said that artist give guidance and creates new ways.
They appreciated the performance of the young artist Vishwadeep and wished him to make more progress in the future. Then Mr. Deepak Bali ji in his address told the importance of teachers in his life and asked the students to respect their teachers and parents and fulfill their dreams. Praising Dr. Ajay Sareen, Principal of Hansraj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, he spoke of the support she had given and taking the institution to greater heights.
Deepak Bali inspired the students to use their time properly in the era of social media and while welcoming Mr. Ashish Khokhar ji, he described the research work done by him and the creation of books as very special. He said that works and research papers written by Khokhar ji will guide the students coming in the field of art.

On this occasion, Dr. Ashish Khokhar released a book on the life and art of his father, Mr. Mohan Khokhar, titled ‘Father Figure of Indian Dance History’. He said that he is feeling happy and proud while carrying forward the intellectual legacy of his father. He described art as the main source and mission of his life and gave information about classical dance and art. He encouraged girls to take initiative in the field of art as well, calling female education helpful in the development of society.
On this occasion, Mr. Ashish Khokhar also screened a documentary film based on his father’s work in the field of classical dance named Tracing Dance. The entire program was very beneficial to the students and also asked some questions which were related to the mission of Dr. Ashish Khokhar and about the contribution of the new generation in classical dance. Dr. Navroop, Dean Youth Welfare and Dr. Rakhi Mehta, Program Coordinator were present in this program. This program was conducted by program coordinator Mrs. Kuljit Kaur. On this occasion, Ms. Surbhi and Ms. Kanika Marwaha from Dance Department were also present.
