Jalandhar September 21 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar College sensitizes students to perform their duties honestly by connecting them with social concerns through various clubs and units. The NSS wing of the college is celebrating NSS Week from 18th to 24th September 2024 in commemoration of NSS Day on 24th September.
This year the NSS wing has chosen the theme ‘Gender Sensitivity’.
Dr. Neerja Dhingra (Principal, ACFA) expressing her views on this occasion said that students it is of utmost importance to be aware of gender sensitivity where the students comprehend the fact that both the genders are equal and should have the same opportunities to grow and rise which will eventually lead to the upliftment of the society.
Dr. Dhingra further shared that this theme has been selected in view of the increasing violence and crime against women in the society. At this age of the students’ core values are made stronger then it certainly leads to the building of the healthy society and with this motto, under the guidance of Dr Simki Dev( Dean, NSS), the NSS Volunteers went to Government Senior Secondary School, Nehru Garden where the students presented the crimes against women and how women should empower themselves to deal with them through street play ‘Sparsh’.
In order to make female students of the school aware about this subject, the Volunteers interacted with them and also conducted Poster- making competitions. The students were awarded as per their performances.
Dr. Dhingra appreciated these efforts made by the NSS Wing and encouraged them to keep up with the good work and contribute in more social works.
