Jalandhar July 3 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya Jalandhar successfully conducted an extensive Environment Education Programme from March to June 2024. The programme, organized in collaboration with Dean CDC, GNDU Amritsar; Punjab State Council for Science & Technology (PSCST); and the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Govt of India, aimed to promote environmental awareness and sustainable practices among students.
Principal Dr. Ajay Sareen inaugurated the various events and emphasized the importance and relevance of environment education in current times. Coordinator Dr. Anjana Bhatia expressed gratitude to the Dean CDC, GNDU Amritsar; PSCST; and MoEFCC for their support in conducting the events.
Activities Conducted:
1. Declamation Competition:
o Students passionately expressed their views on environmental issues, demonstrating their awareness and commitment to sustainable practices.
2. Poster and Slogan Writing Competition:
o Creative posters and impactful slogans were created by students to spread messages about environmental conservation and the importance of sustainable living.
3. Paper Recycling Workshop:
o Participants learned practical skills in recycling waste paper, promoting the reduction of paper waste and encouraging sustainable practices.
4. Visit to Botanical Garden:
o A guided tour of a botanical garden provided participants with insights into plant biodiversity and conservation efforts, enhancing their understanding of ecological systems.
5. Nature Walk:
o An educational nature walk was conducted to celebrate World Environment Day, allowing participants to connect with nature and learn about local flora and fauna.
6. Waste Cloth Bag Making Workshop:
o This workshop empowered unemployed women by teaching them how to create reusable bags from waste cloth, promoting both environmental sustainability and economic empowerment.
