Jalandhar September 26 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- The Department of Hindi of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar observed Hindi Diwas with enthusiasm and joy in the college campus. The students of BA and other classes enthusiastically participated in all the activities organized throughout the week. Various competitions which were organized on this occasion were- Essay writing, Poetry composition, Poetry Recitation, Debate, Story Narration, Portrait Making.

Dr. Anjana (Head, Department of Hindi) takes this initiative every year to ensure that students stay intact with Hindi language and Indian culture. India is a rich country with vast and enriched culture where many of good works have been written in Hindi language.

The Hindi Diwas celebrations began with the mesmerising musical presentation by students of Music who had recited Kabir Ji’s dohas which they had learnt under the guidance of Dr. Amita Mishra and Dr. VivekVerma of Department of Music. This was followed by poetry recitation by Vanshika Kochhar (BCA Sem 5th) titled ” Arjunka Lakshay” and story Narration by Pargya (BCA Sem 5) which had the theme of Social Media. Also, Mr. Mohit Rubal (Department of Journalism and Mass Communication) recited a self- composed poem titled ”Zindagi Ka Saar” and won admiration from the august gathering.

The Dance performance with theme of highlighting the importance of Hindi language mesmerized the audience with their commendable performance.

Dr. Neerja Dhingra on this occasion expressed her joy

Dr. Neerja Dhingra on this occasion expressed her joy seeing the enthusiasm in students for Hindi Diwas. Addressing the students she said, ” At Apeejay we try our best to give as much platforms to students as possible to ensure their holistic development and to connect with them Indian art, culture and even languages. ” She added in this era of globalization, certainly the trend of foreign languages is increasing but one should not forget that Hindi is one of the most spoken languages in India and also, no matter what one should never disconnect themselves from their home land and everything it has to offer.

All the students who had performed exceptionally in the competitions were awarded with honoured with certificates and gifts.

Vanshika Kochhar won 1st prize in Poetry Recitation

Vanshika Kochhar won 1st prize in Poetry Recitation, 2nd in Essay writing and Poetry Composition and 3rd in Story Narration and Debate. Gursahib Singh Thind won 1st prize in Poetry composition, 2nd in Debate and 3rd prize in Essay Writing. Pragya won 1st prize in Story Narration and Debate, 3rd prize in Poetry Recitation. Bhumika won 2nd prize in Story Narration and consolation prize in Poetry Recitation. Germanjeet Singh second prize in Debate and 3rd prize in Essay Writing.

Ritika Sharma won 3rd prize in Poetry composition and consolation prize in Essay Writing. Mannat Wadhwa won 2nd prize in Essay Writing and 3rd prize in Debate. Diya Talwar won third prize in Poetry Recitation and Story Narration. Poorva Aneja won 2nd prize in Poetry Recitation, Sneha Dubey won 1st prize in Essay Writing. Vishal was given Consolation prize for his performance in Essay writing. Aanchal Cheema won 2nd prize in Poetry Composition and Deepa won 3rd prize in Essay Writing.

In Portrait Competition, Naveen, Jappahul and Mangjit won 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize respectively.

Ms. Lovepreet Kaur (Department of Punjabi) handled the stage gracefully and Dr. Neerja Dhingra acknowledged the efforts of Dr. Anjana for successfully organizing the event.
