Jalandhar October 8 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- DD Pant Botanical Society of PG Department of Botany of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya celebrated “Ozone Week” under DST-Curie Grant. In Week long celebrations various activities and competitions were organized to create awareness about the importance of Ozone layer, living a balanced life for sustainable future. Photography competition on ‘Nature and Biodiversity’ was organized. Sejal (B.Sc. Medical sem 3), Sandeep (B.Sc. Medical sem 5) and Archana (B.Voc. J&M sem 5) bagged 1st, 2nd and 3rd position respectively while Mehak (B.Voc. J&M sem 5) and Kiran (M.Sc. Botany sem 3) got consolation prize.
Reel making competition focusing on Biodiversity in the campus was also organized. Farina (B.Sc. Medical sem 1) and Harshita (B.Voc. J&M sem 5) got 1st and 2nd prize respectively. On this occasion, Neutraceutical food show was also organized to celebrate nutrition week on the theme ‘Healthy food Healthy Life’. 16 teams participated in the competition with great enthusiasm. Students prepared healthy food without using fuel. Sandeep Kau and Yuvika (B.Sc. Medical sem 5), Harshita, Baljinder, Jasleen, Misthi (B.Sc. BT sem 5) bagged 1st prize.
Kiran and Suhani (M.Sc. Botany sem 3), Tanya, Harmandeep and Pavneet (M.Sc. Botany sem 1) bagged 2nd prize, Neha, Ankita, Anu, Shivanshi (B.Sc. Medical sem 3) bagged 3rd prize. Aishmeen, Harmandeep, Jaspreet and Drishti (B.Sc. Medical sem 1) and Amulya, Tanvi, Firdous and Vanshika (B.Sc. BT sem 1) were given consolation prize. On this occasion, Principal Dr. Mrs. Ekta Khosla congratulated the winners and asked them to become torch bearers for saving our earth and providing sustainable future for coming generation.
HOD of Botany department Dr. Anjana Bhatia also introduced the students about the importance of Biodiversity conservation. Dr. Mamta, Mrs. Deepshikha, Mrs. Purnima and Dr. Shalinder were the judges of the various events. Dr. Ramandeep Kaur, Ms. Harpreet Kaur and Dr. Shuchi were also present. Dr. Shaveta Chauhan incharge of the society gave vote of thanks.
