Jalandhar June 22 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Reinforcing its commitment to holistic education, wellness, and nation-building, the NCC Unit of PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar, successfully concluded a 10-day Yoga Camp organized from June 13 to June 22, 2026, in collaboration with Alfa Mahendru Foundation and Bhartiya Yog Sansthan (New Delhi), Jalandhar Unit. The camp was organized as part of the celebrations of the 12th International Day of Yoga 2026, observed globally under the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing” by the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India.
The camp brought together NCC cadets, students, faculty members, local residents, and yoga enthusiasts in a collective effort to promote physical fitness, mental well-being, emotional resilience, and spiritual harmony.
Throughout the ten days, participants actively engaged in sessions on Yogic Asanas, Surya Namaskar, Pranayama, meditation, relaxation techniques, stress management, and mindfulness practices, learning how yoga can be integrated into daily life for overall well-being.
A proud milestone for the institution was its appointment as a Nodal Centre for Yoga Activities by Colonel R. S. Lehal, Commanding Officer, 2 Punjab Girls Battalion NCC, in recognition of the college’s consistent contribution towards promoting yoga and healthy living among youth and the community.

The yoga sessions were conducted by experienced instructors from Bhartiya Yog Sansthan, Jalandhar Unit, including Sd. Jasbir Singh, Sd. Sardool Singh, and Sh. Prem Thakur, whose expert guidance enabled participants to understand the physical, mental, and spiritual dimensions of yoga.
The camp also received active support from members of the Alfa Mahendru Foundation, led by President Sh. Ramesh Mahendru, Vice Chairperson Mrs. Harsh Mahendru, Chief Advisor (Health) Dr. Mukesh Walia, Senior Vice President Advocate Jaipal Sharma, Chief Advisor (Save Environment) Sh. Lalit Mehta, General Secretary Sh. Jaswinder Singh Dhiraj, and Public Relations Officer Sh. Parshotam Lal Sharma. Foundation members Mrs. Balbir Kaur, Sh. Sanjiv Kumar Anku, and Sh. Manjit Singh also remained actively associated with the programme and encouraged participants throughout the camp.
Shri Rishi described yoga as India’s priceless heritage
A special highlight of the camp was the visit of Shri Sandeep Rishi, Municipal Commissioner, Jalandhar, and noted educationist and social worker Dr. Sushma Chawla. Addressing the gathering, Shri Rishi described yoga as India’s priceless heritage and a timeless gift to humanity, while Dr. Chawla emphasized its role in character building, emotional well-being, and inner peace.
The camp reached its peak on June 21, 2026, when nearly 110 NCC cadets and members of the local community participated in the celebration of the 12th International Day of Yoga by performing the Common Yoga Protocol.
Addressing the participants, Principal Dr. Pooja Prashar highlighted yoga as a powerful tool for achieving physical fitness, mental peace, and spiritual growth and encouraged everyone to adopt yoga as a lifelong practice.
The valedictory session held on June 22, 2026, titled “Yog Utsav 2026 – Meditation and Stress-Free Life Management,” featured an inspiring discourse.

The camp concluded with a pledge to make yoga an integral part of daily life. The ten-day initiative not only promoted health and wellness but also reinforced the values of self-discipline, mindfulness, community participation, and healthy ageing, reflecting PCM S.D. College’s unwavering commitment to creating a healthier and more responsible society.
