Jalandhar March 28 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Punjabi literary world suffered an irreparable loss lately with the passing away of Dr. Ranjit Singh Bajwa, former Prof. and Head of Department of Punjabi, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. Principal Dr. Rashpal Singh Sandhu offered floral tributes to the departed souls and said that apart from being a world-class scholar, he was a very friendly and beloved teacher of the students. Dr. Sandhu added that during his teaching, he made the students complete high-level research projects like M. Phil and Ph. D in the field of folklore and culture and he also provided his teaching services at Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar.
With this, this grief became even deeper when another sad news was received that Manga Bassi Ji, a progressive poet of the Punjabi literary world and an old student of the college, also departed for heavenly abode. He had a different identity and personality in the literary world. In this sad hour, a condolence meeting was organized.
On this occasion, the Head of the Department of Punjabi, Prof. Harjinder Singh Sekhon said that the departure of two great writers of Punjabi literature from this mortal world is a loss for the Punjabi literary world and it is also a very tragic loss for Lyallpur Khalsa College particularly. On this occasion, all the professors and students of the Punjabi Department, Head of the Department of Mathematics, Dr. Harjit Singh, Head of the Department of History, Dr. Amandeep Kaur, and teachers and students of various departments observed two minutes of silence and offered floral tributes.
