Jalandhar March 20 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) PG Department of Punjabi organized various cultural activities to connect students with their culture and heritage. In these activities, students participated in folk games like Satappu, Kikli, and Rassi Kudna, along with engaging in activities such as cutting vegetables, making cornbread, weaving, sieving grains and folk songs. Students from various departments of the college participated in these activities with full zeal and enthusiasm.

During the event, Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi emphasised upon the importance of preserving the rich heritage of our country and connecting with it, stating that it is everyone’s responsibility to understand the significance of their heritage, enabling individuals to stay connected with their families and society. She also highlighted the KMV’s efforts as being the heritage institution of India to keep the students connected with their culture through such programs.

Suman secured the first position in the folk song competition

Notably, Suman secured the first position in the folk song competition. Damandeep and Jasmin stood second, while Jasbir, Sonia, Navneet, and Surbhi secured the third position. In the cornbread-making competition, Sonia and Tamanna secured the first position, followed by Manmeet, Daman, Sarabjit, and Manpreet in the second position, and Pawan, Nisha, and Suman in the third position. In the savoury-making competition, Sanya, Gurjeet, and Jasbir secured the first position, Jashnpreet, Amrit, and Ramanjeet secured the second position, and Jaspreet, Srishti, and Amandeep secured the third position.

Madam Principal lauded the efforts of Dr. Harpreet Kaur, Head of the Punjabi Department, and the staff members for the successful organisation of the event, while also acknowledging the pivotal role played by Dr. Madhumeet, Dean, Student Welfare, Dr. Gurjot, Dean, E.C.A., and Dr. Poonam Sharma, Head, Music Department for being the judges for the various competitions.
