Gender Sensitisation

Jalandhar December 30 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) has introduced various innovative programs for the holistic development of its students, and Gender Sensitisation is one such crucial program. The aim of this mandatory program for third-semester undergraduate students is to develop a positive perspective on gender equality, changing attitudes and behaviours towards gender roles and responsibilities. Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi, personally interacted with students during the program, advocating for gender equality as a human issue and inspiring them to have confidence in themselves to achieve equality.

Discussing various social issues such as the lack of equal opportunities, dowry, physical and mental violence, Prof. Dwivedi expressed concerns about inequality and responded to students’ questions with inspirational words. Notably, during the program, students were educated about various aspects of gender equality by the experienced faculty, and a lecture on Women’s Rights: Legal and Constitutional Rights was conducted by Advocate Abha Nagar. Additionally, workshops based on self-defence techniques for students were organised.

Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi acknowledged the efforts of Mrs. Amarpreet Khurana, Coordinator, Women’s Studies Center, for the success organising of this event.
