Intel and DAV University sign MoU to advance emerging tech education

Jalandhar November 21 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Intel Technology India Private Limited and DAV University have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to revolutionize emerging technology education. This strategic partnership aims at establishing state-of-the-art Unnati Labs based on Intel architecture.

This strategic partnership is set to lay the foundation for cutting-edge Unnati Labs, leveraging the advanced capabilities of Intel architecture. The labs would serve as a dynamic platform for students specializing in Computer Science and Engineering with a focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The MoU – a pivotal moment in the convergence of academia and industry – was formally inked by Dr. Manoj Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of DAV University, and Mr. Sumeet Verma, Director of Strategy at Intel India at DAV University.

Mr. Girish H Gowda, Programme Business Manager, highlighted that collaboration was imperative as there existed a widening skill gap between technical graduates and the evolving demands of the IT industry. Mr Gowda said that the Intel Unnati Programme was an initiative aimed at aligning students with the rapidly changing landscape of industry expectations. He stressed that the partnership with DAV University was specifically geared towards implementing Intel Unnati’s data-centric initiatives, promising a new era of innovation within the academic realm.

Vice-Chancellor Dr. Manoj Kumar underscored the government’s emphasis on enhancing higher education curricula to equip faculties and graduate students with industry-relevant data-centric skills. The establishment of Unnati Labs, in line with the National Education Policy 2020, is poised to augment existing infrastructure.

Dr. Manoj Kumar detailed that the labs would integrate hardware and software stack recommendations from Intel experts, along with sample course content featuring hands-on exercises. The initial focus would be on setting up world-class Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology labs at DAV University.

Students enrolled in B Tech programs with a specialization in AI at DAV University will receive co-branded course completion certificates, providing them with a competitive edge in the job market, both nationally and internationally.

The Intel courses curated to equip engineering students with pertinent data-centric skills are aimed at molding them into industry-ready professionals. This collaboration is expected to contribute its bit to the strategic momentum of India’s ongoing digital transformation.

The event witnessed the presence of various dignitaries including faculty members Dr Rahul Hans, Dr Arvind Mahindru, Dr Sanjeev Sharma Dr Hiteshwari Sabrol, Ms Ridhi, Dr Sanjeev Dhiman and students.
