Hoshiarpur, June 6 (Tarsem Diwana) – Today, ‘World Environment Day’ was celebrated with great pomp and enthusiasm across the state. On this occasion, various government departments, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), schools and colleges launched several awareness programs and plantation campaigns to promote environmental conservation. These words were shared by the MD of “His Excellent Institute” and “Saint Kabir Public Senior Secondary School Chagran” Hoshiarpur, Dr. Ashish Sarin, during a press conference with some ninety-four journalists.
He said that the main need for us to make joint efforts to save the earth was expressed deep concern over the increasing pollution, global warming and decreasing forests in the state. He said that if we do not stop water misuse and plastic waste even today, then the coming generations will have to bear the heavy cost. He said that a campaign should be started to plant shade and fruit trees in common areas, parks and roadsides of cities and villages.
He said that poster making, speech and essay competitions should be organized for children in schools so that the new generation can be connected with nature. He said that the people of Punjab should abandon single-use plastic and use cloth bags. He said that just planting trees is not enough, but taking care of them till they grow up and saving the falling water level is also our biggest responsibility.
