Jalandhar August 11 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Under the able guidance of Principal Dr. Mrs. Ekta Khosla, Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya organized an orientation workshop for teachers on “Wipro Earthian Awards” in collaboration with the Punjab State Council for Science & Technology (PSCST). The workshop focused on creating awareness about sustainability, strengthening environmental understanding and encouraging innovative approaches to address contemporary environmental challenges. Dr. Anjana Bhatia, Head, Department of Botany, acted as the Coordinator of the workshop.
Dr. Anjana Bhatia also conducted the proceedings of the stage and ensured the seamless flow of the programme. The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolising knowledge, enlightenment and the collective commitment towards a sustainable future. The concept note of the workshop was presented, highlighting its objectives, significance and expected outcomes. The distinguished guests and resource persons for the occasion were Dr. Mandakini from PSCST and Mr. Ashish Shah from Wipro. They were accorded a warm welcome with planters and a traditional HMV painting.
In her address, Principal Dr. Ekta Khosla appreciated the dedication and enthusiasm of the organising team. She emphasised that dedication, commitment and loyalty are essential for the successful completion of any project. She urged everyone to remain focused on their responsibilities and work collectively towards achieving the objectives of the initiative. She conveyed her best wishes to the organisers and participants. Dr. Mandakini expressed her delight at visiting HMV and provided an insightful introduction to the Wipro Earthian Awards.

She highlighted the significance of the initiative in promoting sustainability and shared that many teachers and educational institutions are benefiting from the programme. She encouraged participants to actively engage with the initiative and transform their learning into meaningful environmental action. Mr. Ashish Shah gave a detailed presentation on the Wipro Earthian initiative, its vision and objectives. He emphasised that the primary objective of the initiative is to build the capacity of individuals and institutions to understand and effectively address environmental challenges.
He encouraged the participants to adopt a solution-oriented approach and develop practical sustainability initiatives within their institutions and communities. Dr Harpreet Singh, Head, Bioinformatics Deptt gave vote of thanks. The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from around 100 participants. Participants actively engaged in the sessions and shared their experiences, ideas and perspectives related to environmental sustainability and institutional initiatives. The interactive sessions provided an enriching platform for knowledge-sharing, dialogue and capacity-building.
The workshop concluded on an inspiring note, reaffirming HMV’s commitment to promoting environmental consciousness, sustainability, innovation and responsible citizenship.
