Jalandhar July 27 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- The Women Empowerment Cell of PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar organised a special programme in collaboration with the Rotary Premier League (RPL) under the nationwide ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ initiative to celebrate and encourage the academic achievements of young women. The event aimed at reinforcing the significance of girls’ education and empowering students to pursue excellence with confidence and determination.

The programme commenced with a warm welcome to the distinguished dignitaries from the Rotary Premier League. The college had the privilege of hosting Dr. U. S. Ghai, Former District Governor and RPL Chairman, Shri Kulwant Singh, RPL Coordinator, Mr. Surinder Jagat, President, Rotary Club Jalandhar City, and Mr. Rajat Sethi, Secretary, Rotary Club Jalandhar City.

They were accompanied by esteemed team members Mr. Ajay Dhawan, Dr. Mandeep Singh, and Sardar Harvinder Sadana, whose presence added immense value to the occasion.

On behalf of the institution, Principal Dr Pooja Prashar extended a cordial welcome to the guests by presenting planters as a symbol of gratitude and the college’s commitment to environmental sustainability. Mrs. Kawaljit Kaur, In-charge, Women Empowerment Cell, also joined in welcoming the distinguished visitors.

The highlight of the event was the felicitation of meritorious students under the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaign. The Rotary Premier League honoured deserving students with prizes and appreciation for their academic accomplishments, inspiring them to continue striving for excellence. The initiative reflected Rotary’s unwavering commitment to promoting girls’ education and recognising the potential of young women.

The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the Rotary Premier League for its generous support and continued commitment to the cause of women’s education and welfare. Mrs Shikha Puri successfully handled the stage. Dr Anju Bala, Dr Sandeep, Mrs Aabroo Sharma and Ms Dolly also witnessed the event.

President Shri Naresh Budhia, Senior Vice President Shri Vinod Dada, other members of the managing committee and Principal Dr Pooja Prashar applauded the Club for honouring the meritorious students and motivated the institution to undertake initiatives that nurture academic excellence, social responsibility, and the all-round development of its students.
