Jalandhar July 28 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- HMV Collegiate Senior Secondary School organised ‘Jashan-e-Aagaaz 2026‘, an exuberant Freshers’ Party, to extend a heartfelt welcome to the SSC-I students and usher them into the HMV family with warmth, pride, and grandeur. The celebration reflected the institution’s unwavering commitment to nurturing confident, cultured, and future-ready individuals, transforming the campus into a vibrant tapestry of youthful aspirations, artistic brilliance, and joyous camaraderie. The distinguished Chief Guest, Dr. Ekta Khosla, Principal, received a traditional Punjabi welcome amidst the melodious strains of vibrant Punjabi Boliyan, setting an auspicious and festive tone for the occasion.

The programme commenced with the Ceremonial Lighting of the Lamp, followed by recital of the DAV Gaan, filling the atmosphere with reverence and institutional pride. In keeping with HMV’s eco-conscious ethos, Dr. Seema Marwaha, Dean Academics and School Advisor, and Mrs. Upma Gupta, School Incharge, presented a beautiful planter to Principal Dr. Ekta Khosla as a Green Welcome, signifying growth, prosperity, and sustainability. The esteemed panel of judges for the modelling competition comprising Dr. Navroop, Advisor, Youth Welfare and Head, Department of Punjabi; Mrs. Deepshikha, Head, Department of Chemistry; and Mrs. Sangeeta Arora, Head, Department of Computer Science, was also felicitated with green planters as a token of gratitude.

Dr. Anjana Bhatia, Head of Botany Department and Dr. Urvashi Mishra, Dean, Student Council, were likewise honoured with green planters for their gracious presence and invaluable support. Extending a warm welcome to the gathering, Mrs. Upma Gupta greeted the Principal, distinguished judges , faculty members, and freshers, expressing her delight at witnessing another promising batch stepping into the rich legacy of HMV.

Addressing the students, Principal Dr. Ekta Khosla delivered an inspiring and thought-provoking message, reminding the young learners that SSC-I is the runway to a brighter future where dreams acquire wings through dedication, discipline, and determination. She urged them to embrace every opportunity with resilience, patience, perseverance, and unwavering self-belief, encouraging them to strive for excellence while upholding the cherished values and traditions of HMV.

The cultural extravaganza unfolded as a dazzling spectacle of enthralling dance performances, melodious singing of songs, fun- filled games, captivating stage presentations, and an elegant modelling competition showcased the remarkable confidence, artistic flair, and boundless enthusiasm of the students. Among the many stellar presentations, the breathtaking skating performance by Nikita of SSC-II Commerce stole the show. Adding to the excitement, the much-awaited Freshers’ titles were announced in which Harshita was crowned Miss HMV Freshers 2026, while Rythm Kaur was honoured with the title of Miss Charming.

Sabnoor Kaur was adjudged Miss Confident, Arshdeep Kaur received the title of Miss Elegance, Jessika was crowned Miss Sparkling Smile, and Nancy earned the title of Miss Cultural Grace. Their poise, confidence, and charismatic personalities reflected the vibrant spirit of HMV Collegiate. The programme concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks proposed by Mrs. Renu Walia, Event Incharge, who expressed sincere gratitude to the Principal, the esteemed judges, faculty members, and students for their wholehearted cooperation and enthusiastic participation in making the celebration a resounding success. The event was gracefully compered by the members of the Student Council Pahul, Himanshi,Muskan, Diya Vaid, Uma Arora, and Shreya.
