Jalandhar September 16 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar, celebrated Doordarshan Day with remarkable zeal and creativity, paying tribute to India’s pioneering national television channel.
The celebration commenced with engaging sessions where students traced the illustrious journey of Doordarshan and its instrumental role in shaping the media landscape of India. Adding dynamism to the day, a spirited debate competition on the India–Pakistan cricket match saw students present their viewpoints with conviction and eloquence. The event also featured discussions on the invaluable contributions of media stalwarts whose work continues to inspire generations.
Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra, while addressing the gathering, remarked, “Doordarshan is not merely a television channel; it is an emotion woven into the cultural fabric of India. It has stood as a witness to our nation’s progress and as a medium that brought families, communities, and the nation together. Our students, through today’s celebration, have not only revived its legacy but also reflected on the responsibility of future media professionals to uphold values of truth, credibility, and cultural richness.”
