Renowned Intellectuals to Address this year’s edition of Mela Ghadri Babian Da

Jalandhar August 21 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- This year Mela Ghadri Babian Da will be held at Jalandhar from 7-9 November. This was stated in a press release by Ajmer Singh, Pirthipal Singh Marimegha and Amolak Singh, President, General Secretary and Convener Cultural Committee respectively of Desh Bhagat Yadgar Committee. They further said that the attraction of the Mela will be the speeches by the Renowned author Arundhati Roy and the founder of the News Click portal Prabir Purakaysatha on 9th November.

On the afternoon of 8th November, Mr. Rajinder Singh Cheema, former Advocate General of Punjab will speak on the deadly effects of the new criminal codes and the need of people’s voice against them and Dr. Apoorvanand, Professor, University of Delhi on the fascistic onslaught on the right of expression. Besides these lectures, a film show will be held on the evening of 8th November and after the show pro-people film makers Anand Patwardhan and Sanjay Kak will share their views on films and the present social and political conditions.

The symposium on 9th November will be focused on the topic Agriculture and Water Crisis and the speakers in this segment include Kulwant Sandhu, Dr. Parminder, Jagrup, Sukhwinder Sekhon, Raminder Patiala and Vijay Bambeli.

The Committee has appealed to pro- people organizations, individuals and families to enthusiastically participate in the Mela held every year in the memory of the Ghadarites , listen to and assimilate the views of the speakers and spread the awareness thus gathered amongst the people.
