Jalandhar June 15 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Principal of Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi delivered an inspiring address at Guru Angad Dev Teaching Learning Centre (GAD-TLC), a centre of the Ministry of Education under Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching (PMMMNMTT), SGTB Khalsa College, New Delhi, on “Women Leadership: An Imperative for Developed Societies.” The event aimed at faculty development saw an engaging and thought-provoking session highlighting the critical need for fostering women leaders to achieve the goals of a developed nation. The event witnessed the participation of more than 250 participants from all over India.
In her address, Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi emphasised the indispensable role of women in leadership positions, underscoring that the empowerment and inclusion of women leaders are fundamental to societal progress and development. She articulated that the realisation of a truly developed society hinges on the active participation and leadership of women across various sectors. She also delved into the essential components of leadership. She highlighted that these components are crucial for effective leadership and are inherent strengths that women can bring to the forefront.

She pointed out that understanding and dismantling these obstacles is vital for creating an equitable environment where women can thrive as leaders.To illustrate the impact of women leaders, she also shared compelling case studies of prominent women leaders Aacharya Lajawati ji, Former Principal of KMV, who was trailblazer and an influential leader in the 20th century. Her leadership and vision transformed KMV into a premier institution, setting a benchmark for women’s education and empowerment.
The second case study she discussed was of Coco Chanel, the pioneering French designer who revolutionised the fashion industry with her innovative designs and bold leadership. Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi, renowned for her extensive research on women leadership, shared insights from her visits and talks across India and abroad. Her global perspective and research findings have contributed significantly to the discourse on women’s leadership development, reinforcing the necessity for international collaboration and knowledge exchange.
The address concluded with a call to action for all educators and institutions to actively engage in promoting women leadership. Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi reaffirmed her commitment to this cause and expressed optimism for a future where women leaders play a central role in shaping a prosperous and equitable society.
