Jalandhar September 9 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- An awareness program was organized under the aegis of Women Empowerment Cell of PCM SD College for Women in collaboration with the Bhartiya Vikas Parishad Jalandhar Gaurav, on the vital topic, “Rights of Women Under Various Civil and Criminal Laws.”
The event was held with the objective of raising awareness and educating the audience about the legal rights and protections available to women in India.
The program was graced by the presence of several eminent dignitaries. Among them was Prof. Dr. Madhu Prashar, Former Principal, Dev Samaj College for Women, Ferozepur, a distinguished academician and a strong advocate for women empowerment. Dr. Prashar’s contributions to education and her advocacy for women’s rights have been truly transformative. She delivered a valuable discourse on womanhood, relevance of cultural values and judicious use of technology.
Shri Shammi Kapoor, President, Bhartiya Vikas Parishad Jalandhar Gaurav, Shri Subhash Gupta, General Secretary, Shri Rakesh Babbar, District Coordinator and Advocate Shri Shiv Kumar Sonik and Mrs Veena Aggarwal were the representatives from the organisation who were part of the event.

The keynote address was delivered by Advocate Shri Shiv Kumar Sonik, who shed light on various civil and criminal laws designed to protect women’s rights in India. His insightful speech focused on empowering women through knowledge of the legal avenues available to them, including protection against domestic violence, workplace harassment, and the legal recourse for any violation of their rights. Shri Rajesh Babbar enlisted various goals, initiatives and projects undertaken by their organisation for the social well being of community at large.
The program underscored the importance of being informed advocates and allies, and also highlighted the efforts of the Parishad in contributing to social causes. The organization has consistently undertaken noble initiatives such as providing financial assistance to needy students, organizing medical camps, and conducting plantation drives to contribute to environmental sustainability.
President Shri Naresh Budhia, Senior Vice President Shri Vinod Dada, other members of the managing committee and Principal Prof.(Pooja Prashar) lauded the endeavours of Incharge of Women Empowerment Cell Mrs Kanwaljit Kaur for successfully fulfilling its purpose of educating and empowering the audience, reaffirming the commitment of both PCM SD and Bhartiya Vikas Parishad to advancing the cause of women’s rights and overall societal betterment. Mrs Aabroo Sharma, Mrs Shikha Puri and Mrs Akwinder Kaur, other members of the Cell also witnessed the event.
