Jalandhar August 14 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- In a spirit of national pride and unity, the Central Association and NCC Army Wing of PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar celebrated 78th Independence Day to commemorate the unparalleled sacrifices made by our freedom fighters to liberate the nation from the yoke of slavery. The event was graced by the presence of esteemed Senior Vice President, Shri Vinod Dada.
The most pious ceremony began with the hoisting of tricolour. It was followed by an address by the chief guest. He encouraged students to demonstrate their reverence for the nation’s history and sacrifices. Principal Prof.(Dr.) Pooja Prashar too addressed the students on the historic day emphasising the relevance of independence in one’s life. She adduced that a nation’s progress is mapped through the quality of its education, the health of its citizens, and the strength of its democratic institutions.
A Poem Recitation competition, Dance performance and Poster Making competition were organized by department of Punjabi in the School Block to mark the occasion.
The intent of the event was to remind everyone about the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters and the responsibility we all have in preserving the values of democracy and diversity.
President Shri Naresh Budhia Ji, Senior Vice President Shri Vinod Dada, other members of the managing committee and worthy principal Prof. (Dr.) Pooja Prashar applauded the efforts of the Incharges of Central Association, Mrs Rajni Kapoor, Dr Divya Budhia Gupta and Captain Priya Mahajan, Associate NCC Officer for organizing the event to perfection.
