PCM S.D. College for Women Promotes Yoga for Community Well-being through “Yog Utsav”

Jalandhar June 21 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar, in association with Alfa Mahendru Foundation and Bhartiya Yog Sansthan, actively participated in a 10-day-long “Yog Utsav” to commemorate International Yoga Day 2025. Held at Rose Park, Surya Enclave, from June 13 to June 22, the event aimed to spread awareness about the importance of yoga in achieving physical fitness, mental peace, and overall wellness—not just among students, but across the community.

NCC Cadets and NSS volunteers of the college enthusiastically took part in the daily sessions alongside local residents, fostering a spirit of health and unity. Students also practiced yoga regularly at home and in nearby parks as part of the ongoing initiative.

A special yoga session was also organized by the NSS Unit within the college campus, ensuring wide participation of students and faculty members.

Dr. Pooja Prashar, Principal, PCM S.D. College for Women, and Dr. S. K. Kalia, Inspector General of Police (Retd.), graced the yoga camp at Surya Enclave as Chief Guests and actively participated in the session. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Prashar emphasized that yoga is a way of life that teaches us balance, discipline, and harmony. She encouraged students to become messengers of this ancient tradition, spreading its benefits for holistic well-being in their families and society at large.

Students of the college also took part in the grand celebration of International Yoga Day at PAP Grounds on June 21, proudly representing the institution and contributing to the larger vision of wellness and mindfulness.

Adding a creative touch to the celebration, NCC Cadets and students of the Fine Arts Department also participated in a painting competition based on this year’s theme, “Yoga for One Earth, One Health”. Their vibrant artworks reflected the interconnectedness of human and planetary well-being through the lens of yoga.

Captain Priya Mahajan also graced the sessions and motivated the cadets and volunteers to integrate yoga into their daily lives for better physical and mental strength.

President Shri Naresh Budhia, Senior Vice President Shri Vinod Dada, other honourable members of the Managing Committee, and the worthy Principal appreciated the sincere efforts of the NSS Unit, NCC Cadets, and collaborating organizations. They commended the spirit of dedication and community service exhibited throughout the campaign.
