PCM S.D. College for Women Organizes Tree Plantation Drive on World Environment Day

Jalandhar June 6 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- To commemorate World Environment Day, the Eco Club, NSS Unit, and Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) of PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar, jointly organized a Tree Plantation Drive in the Collegiate Block of the college campus.

Faculty members, NSS volunteers, and students enthusiastically participated in the drive and planted a large number of saplings within the campus premises. The initiative aimed to promote environmental awareness, encourage sustainable practices, and inspire students to contribute actively towards environmental conservation.

The programme was organized under the Environment Education Programme of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC), Government of India, and supported by Mission LiFE and the State Nodal Agency, Punjab State Council for Science and Technology, under the guidance of Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar.

During the event, participants pledged to protect and nurture the planted saplings and work collectively towards creating a greener and healthier environment. The programme highlighted the vital role of trees in maintaining ecological balance, conserving biodiversity, and combating climate change.

President Shri Naresh Budhia, Senior Vice President Shri Vinod Dada, the other members of the Managing Committee, and the worthy Principal Dr. Pooja Prashar appreciated the efforts of the organizers and participants. They lauded such awareness initiatives for sensitizing students towards sustainable living, environmental responsibility, and the importance of preserving nature for future generations.
