Jalandhar November 12 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Centre of Guru Granth Sahib Studies & NSS Unit in collaboration with Rotary Club Jalandhar Helping Hands Group organized declamation contest to commemorate the supreme martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur ji. The Chief Guest of the event Swami Shanta nand ji Udaseen was welcomed by the college Principal Prof. Navdeep Kaur, President Rotarian Dr. Mandeep Singh & organizing committee. Principal Prof. Navdeep Kaur in her opening remarks emphasized on the need of adoption of philanthropic approach in the prevailing times when intolerance is gaining momentum.
She opined that we need to learn lessons of patience, promotion of human rights and universal brotherhood from the sacrifices of Guru Teg Bahadur ji, Bhai Sati Das ji, Bhai Mati Das ji and Bhai Dyala ji.

Chief Guest of the event, Swami ji briefly discussed life and ideology of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur ji and motivated the students to adopt and apply the concept the welfare of the society. Prof. Mandeep Singh, Coordinator of Centre of Guru Granth Sahib Studies informed that more than 90 participants registered for this competition and 35 students from various colleges and schools of Jalandhar, Kapurthala & Amritsar participated in this declamation contest on the topic Martyrdom of Guru Teg Bahadur ji, Bhai Sati Das ji, Bhai Mati Das ji and Bhai Dyala ji. Prof. Mandeep Singh & Mr. Harvinder Singh acted as the judges of the event.
NSS Program Prof. Satpal Singh informed that Sukhraj Deep Kaur, Ekta Pandey and Vanshika got first, second & third positions respectively. Moreover, consolation prizes were given to Sanjana, Kalpana & Gurvir Kaur. Rotarian Dr. Mandeep Singh thanked the audience and appreciated the efforts of the college in organizing this program. The stage was handled by K.S. Aujla. During this event, Dr. Harmeet Kaur Rayat, Asst. Governor Rtn S.K. Bansal, Mr. Harminder Singh Sidana, Ms. Ruchi Gaur, Rajesh Bahari, Mr. Surinder Saini, College staff members and students were present.
