Jalandhar September 24 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- The Department of Physiotherapy of Lyallpur Khalsa College, in collaboration with the Departments of Zoology–Botany and the India Vikas Parishad (Yuva Ikai), organized a workshop on Basic Life Support (BLS). The chief guest for the event was Dr. Mukesh Gupta (M.D. Radiodiagnosis, National Co-ordinator BLS). Principal Dr. Sumna Chopra warmly welcomed him with a floral bouquet. In her address, she stated that the college regularly organizes such seminars so that students can benefit from them. She added that these are the crucial moments when a quick and correct decision, taken with complete focus, can provide life saving pre-medical assistance and save a precious life.
Dr. Gupta elaborated on the importance of this technique in detail
Dr. Gupta, in his address, explained that BLS proves life-saving for people whose heart suddenly stops beating, causing an interruption of blood flow to the brain. He demonstrated the technique of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and informed that by pressing the chest about 120 times continuously for around half an hour, the heartbeat can be restarted. He emphasized that even common people should be aware of this method so that they can help save someone’s life in an emergency before reaching a hospital. The workshop shared both theoretical and practical knowledge through a Powpresentation and live demonstrations. Dr. Gupta elaborated on the importance of this technique in detail.
At the conclusion of the program, Dr. Raju Sharma, Head of the Department of Physiotherapy, thanked all guests, the Principal, and the students. He announced that from next year this technique will be included as a one-year course in the Physiotherapy curriculum through the N.C.A.P.H.
