Lyallpur Khalsa College Observes International Women’s Day

Jalandhar March 10 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- English Literary Society of PG Department of English, N.S.S. Unit, Red Ribbon Club and I.I.C of Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar in collaboration with Rotary Club Jalandhar Helping Hands organized an interactive session on Women Health and Hygiene for female teaching and non-teaching staff and students. The resource person was Dr. Harinder Kaur, an experienced gynecologist at Innocent Heart Hospital, Jalandhar. Principal Dr. Rashpal Singh Sandhu and Dr. Balraj Kaur, H.o.D. PG Dept of English gave a floral welcome to her. Dr. Sandhu in his opening remarks described the importance of the observance of international women’s day.

He advocated equal opportunities for women and lauded the female students and staff members who have achieved remarkable feats at state and national level. Dr. Harinder Kaur in her address discussed women’s health and hygiene. She, in detail, explained the different diseases, causes and remedies related to women’s health and hygiene. She emphasized on proper diet, exercise and mental well being of individuals. Her counterpart, Dr. Mandeep Singh, described the various myths related to female identity and appealed to everyone to be more positive and progressive about women’s causes.

During the event, female NSS volunteers who participated in state and national events (Republic Day Tableau at New Delhi, national integration camp at Telangana, state adventure camps and state youth parliament) were felicitated. Dr. Balraj Kaur paid a vote of thanks. Stage was managed by NSS Chief Program Officer Prof. Satpal Singh. During this event, Dr. Jaswant Kaur from Dept. of Physiotherapy, Prof. Anu Moom, H.o.D. of Political Science, Prof. Pooja Rana, H.o.D. of Geography, teaching and non-teaching staff members and female students were present in large numbers.
