Jalandhar February 13 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- The 18th death anniversary of the philanthropist and great visionary who took Lyallpur Khalsa College educational institutions to great heights was observed at Gurdwara Sahib of Lyallpur Khalsa College. After the Bhog of Sehaj Path of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Bhai Varunjit Singh Ji, Hazuri Raagi, the Raagi Jatha of Sri Darbar Sahib Ji, connected the Sangat with the Guru ji with a Vairagmai Kirtan. President of the Governing Council Sardarni Balbir Kaur, Joint Secretary S. Jaspal Singh Waraich, Vice President of the Governing Council S. Deepinder Singh Purewal and Principal Dr. Rachpal Singh Sandhu honored Bhai Varunjit Singh Ji and his Raagi Jatha by presenting them with Siropas.
On this occasion, S. Jagdeep Singh Shergill, Member Governing Council, S. Parampal Singh Member Managing Committee, S. Prabhpal Singh Pannu, Member Managing Committee, S. Ajaypal Singh Dhillon, besides Sardarni Balbir Kaur Ji, President Governing Council, family members and relatives arrived from the country and abroad to pay homage to Late S. Balbir Singh Ji. Principal Dr. Rachpal Singh Sandhu, while explaining the personality of S. Balbir Singh, said that along with politics, he had done unique work in the field of sports and education.

To provide higher education to the students of Doaba, he started computer courses in Lyallpur Khalsa College and paved the path of equality in education in the society. Due to his farsighted thinking, he also brought professional courses like physiotherapy and biotechnology to the college so that the students of Doaba region could also brighten their future by taking admission in these courses. In this way, he devoted a large part of his life for the betterment of these educational institutions.
While serving in the field of politics, he was committed to his duties without any bias. Due to his popularity, even today, a large number of his friends visited the Gurdwara and paid homage to him. On this occasion, all the Governing Council members, Managing Committee, SAC members, Director Technical Campus, Advisors, Principals of various colleges, all the staff and students attended in large numbers and refreshed the memories of Sardar Balbir Singh Ji.
