Jalandhar August 23 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar is scaling new heights in academics, sports as well as co-curricular activities. In recently concluded Paris Olympics 2024 games, two students of the college Jarmanpreet Singh and Sukhjit Singh were part of the bronze medal winning Hockey Team. A special program was organized in the campus to honour them. The program was presided by S. Jaspal Singh Waraich, Joint Secretary, Governing Council. He was assisted by Olympian Mr. Sanjiv Kumar and S. Avtar Singh from Surjit Hockey Academy.

Principal Dr. Jaspal Singh in his opening address lauded the efforts of the players at international level. He briefly narrated the history and legacy of hockey players of the college. He added that college has been adding new milestones in its already rich sports contribution towards international level as 02 of its players Princedeep Singh and Arshdeep Singh are attending Junior National Hockey camp.

On this occasion, College provided mementos and cash prizes to the Olympic bronze medalist Jarmanpreet Singh and junior national hockey player Princedeep Singh. Jarmanpreet thanked College Governing Council and appreciated the fact that it is the support of Governing Council, Principal and coaches that players from the college are excelling at international level. He added that our players have the same skill set as foreign players and it is the mental strength that makes the margin of victory. He opined that though there is sports science, state of the art facilities and support by government, there can be no substitute to hard work.

He also appreciated the efforts of academy coach S. Avtar Singh and school coach Olympian Mr. Sanjeev Kumar. He declared that the team is determined to change the colour of the medal at the upcoming world cup. S. Jaspal Singh Waraich congratulated the international players and extended his support to such players at all levels. At the end, Vice-Principal Prof. Jasreen Kaur thanked the gathering and wished that the team wins more accolades for the country. Dr. Rashpal Singh Sandhu, Dean Sports managed the stage. During the event, Dr.Bheempal Singh from USA, Members of College Sports Committee and staff members of Dept. of Physical Education & Sports were present.
