Cadet Tara was the only cadet selected from Jalandhar group to attend the camp
Jalandhar July 11 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) NCC cadet Tara recently attended the 369th Special Basic Mountaineering Camp at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports, Manali. She was the only cadet selected from Jalandhar group and performed brilliantly at the camp. Cadet Tara experienced several adventurous and venturous activities during her camp. She was also trained to reside in glaciers of 12,500 ft without electricity during the camp.
Rock climbing and hiking was also a vital part of the training; besides crossing cold water river, ascending and descending climbing made the camp more gutsy and daring for her. She also climbed Shitidhar mountain glacier of 15,700 ft mountain range among 49 cadets& received training to carry heavy bags of 20kg on her shoulders to cover the distance of 15 km.
Principal Prof Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that such trainings are a vital part of holistic education provided at KMV and also lauded the efforts of Department of NCC for working zealously to come up with a variety of opportunities and activities everyday so that girls can emerge as the future leaders of the Nation. Commanding Officer 2PB (G) Bn NCC, Jalandhar Col. M.S. Sachdev congratulated cadet Tara for her excellent performance in the camp.
