KMV successfully organises Eco Echo Fest for the students

Students highlight the various economic issues of the country by participating in multiple activities during the Fest

Jalandhar March 15 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) P.G. Department of Economics organised Eco Echo Fest to hone the creative skills of students. A plethora of events namely Declamation Contest, Ramp Walk, and Eco Quiz were organised on this occasion. The Students of B.Sc. (Economics), M.A.(Economics), B.A. and B.Com (Honours) participated in these events with great zeal and fervour. The event commenced with the lamp lightening and floral felicitation of the chief guest Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi. The event started with a declamation contest. The topic for the declamation was “If I have the powers of Prime Minister or Finance Minister or Chief Minister….. What Kinds of changes will you bring to the economy?”

Being a Prime Minister of the country, the participants focussed on the issues of the country that had not been dealt with so far and need to be addressed. The participants wanted to bring a change in agricultural policy, eliminate poverty, and improve employment opportunities, particularly white collared jobs. As the Finance Minister of the country, the participants wanted to deal with the problems of black money & inflation. In their role as the Chief Minister of Punjab, students aimed to enhance crop diversification and increase the Minimum Support Price (MSP) to ensure fair compensation for farmers & would tackle the issue of drug menace with sound policies and strict implementation of laws.

The second event was ramp walk -a dazzling display of creativity

The second event was ramp walk -a dazzling display of creativity and entrepreneurial spirit of students in which the students showcased a diverse array of innovative products & captivated the audience with their confidence and flair. The ramp walk was a celebration of the college’s commitment to fostering creativity and an entrepreneurial spirit among its students. The event served as a testament to the college’s emphasis on practical learning, providing a real-world platform for students to unveil their creativity. Manpreet and Ramneet from B.A. Semester –VI bagged first and second positions respectively.

Jasmine from M.A Economics Semester II secured the third position. Tamana from B.Sc. Economics semester-VI and Isha from B.Sc. Economics Semester II got consolation prizes. The last event was Eco Quiz in which the students of B. A., B. Sc. (Economics)and M. A. (Economics) participated. There was the representation of four teams named as Classical economists, Neo-classical economists, Keynesian economists, and Modern economists, each consisting of three students. Neo-classical economists won the competition followed by Classical economists and Keynesian economists as first runner-ups.

Principal Prof Dr Atima Sharma Dwivedi lauded the talent of the students which they showcased through their creativity, projection, and good articulation on the stage. She also motivated the students to keep on participating in such events along with their studies, which helps in inculcating confidence among the students. Madam Principal lauded the efforts of Mrs. Amarpreet Khurana, Head of the PG Department of Economics and the whole faculty for successfully organizing the event.
