Jalandhar November 26 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar organized inter-college football competition at Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar. Today, the first match was played between the teams of Khalsa College Amritsar and Guru Nanak College Phagwara, in which Khalsa College, Amritsar won by 4-0. The second match was played between DAV College Jalandhar and DAV College Phagwara which was tied at 1-1. The third match was played between Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar and Sikh National College, Banga, which Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar won by 4-1.
S. Jaspal Singh Waraich, Joint Secretary, Governing Council along with Mr. Sukhi Bath and Principal Dr. Jaspal Singh blessed the players and encouraged them to play with sportsmanship. On this occasion, Principal Dr. Jaspal Singh said that high level of football game was demonstrated by all the teams. He advised that students should participate in sports along with studies, which leads to their physical as well as mental development. Congratulating all the teams, he said that the college has always been making a valuable contribution to raise the level of sports and the best players have been provided with all kinds of financial support.
On this occasion, Dean Sports Dr. Rashpal Singh Sandhu, S. Tarlochan Singh Sangha, S. Kehar Singh, Principal Dr. Tarsem Singh, Dr. Mannu Sood, Mr. Pradeep Kumar (Football Coach, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar), S. Surjit Singh, former international player, Dr. Harjeet Singh and Dr. S.S. Bains were also present.
