Jalandhar February 13 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- The Red Ribbon club of Innocent Hearts College of Education organized an awareness seminar on ‘Drug prevention, control and treatment measures’ in the adopted village Loharan. This awareness seminar aimed to sensitize villagers about the hazardous drug vulnerabilities and remove their fear of approaching health clinics for treatment.

The villagers were educated about the ill- effects of drug abuse and addiction. All the Red Ribbon club members wore red ribbons, made descriptive posters and charts depicting the helpline numbers to help people get treatment of drug abuse and addiction. RRC volunteer, Neha began the lecture by explaining how drug addiction starts, often through peer pressure or curiosity and later becomes a dangerous habit. She highlighted the ill-effects of drug addiction: physical effects like damage to the liver, lungs, and brain, as well as the psychological impact including anxiety, depression, and loss of concentration.

RRC member Yasmeen stressed upon the social drug abuse consequences like broken family relations, poor work performances, misleading one to criminal thoughts. Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh strongly cautioned against experimenting with drugs even once, as it could lead to dangerous consequences and lifetime regret. RRC Incharge Tarunjyoti Kaur explained the legal consequences, making the students and villagers aware of strict laws and punishments related to drug possession and consumption.
