Jalandhar March 12 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- The Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Team and the Red Ribbon Club of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar organized a community outreach programme in Dhaliwal village to spread awareness about HIV/AIDS. The initiative was taken under the able guidance of the Principal, Dr. (Mrs.) Ekta Khosla. Dr. Minakshi Duggal Mehta, Incharge of the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Cell, and Dr. Deepali, Coordinator of the Red Ribbon Club, interacted with the villagers and educated them about HIV/AIDS. They explained the modes of transmission, cleared common misconceptions, and discussed preventive measures to reduce the risk of infection.
They also emphasized that HIV does not spread through casual contact such as shaking hands, sharing food, hugging, or mosquito bites, thereby addressing prevalent myths and fears among people. The speakers highlighted the importance of early testing, safe practices, the use of sterilized medical equipment, and awareness about Antiretroviral Therapy (ART) for effective management of HIV.
The villagers actively participated in the session and showed keen interest in understanding the preventive aspects of the disease. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks to Mr. Mandeep Singh, Sarpanch of the village, for his support and cooperation in organizing the awareness drive. Principal Dr. Ekta Khosla appreciated the sincere efforts of the organizing team and encouraged them to continue conducting such meaningful outreach programmes for the welfare of society.
