HMV hosted National Voters’ Day for 11th time in succession

Jalandhar January 25 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidalaya, Jalandhar majestically hosted 16th National Voters’ Day under the able guidance of Principal Dr. Ekta Khosla and in collaboration with District Election Office, Jalandhar. The event started with the lighting of lamp. Principal Dr. Ekta Khosla extended green welcome to the Chief Guest Smt. Amaninder Kaur Brar PCS, ADC(G), Jalandhar followed by Sh. Rajiv Joshi DY DEO (S), Jalandhar, Sh. Gurvinderjot Singh Deputy, Cooperative Society, Sh. Randeep Singh Heer, PCS SDM-I, Jalandhar, Sh. Sukhdev Singh Election Tehsildar Jalandhar, Dr. Surjit Lal Secretary Red Cross Jalandhar, Dr Ashok Sahota Assist. Nodal Officer SVEEP Jalandhar Sh. Ravi Dara Assistant Director District Youth Officer Jalandhar and Sh. Gurpreet Singh, District Sports Officer.

Principal Dr. Ekta Khosla congratulated the gathering on the National Voters’ Day and expressed her gratitude towards District Election Commission for assigning this event to HMV for consecutively 11th time. She further stated that educational institutions are committed towards fulfilling the vision of Viksit Bharat. Dr. Surjit Lal presented the formal welcome and motivated the youth to participate in the voting process.

Chief Guest Smt. Amaninder Kaur applauded the institution for the well organised event. She urged the youth to cast votes rising above the shackles of caste and religion.She called the youth as the backbone of the nation and to vote with maximum participation. Virtual messages by Sh. Gyanesh Kumar Election Commissioner India and Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal Deputy Commissioner, Jalandhar were showcased to the gathering.

SVEEP icon Sh. Vivek Joshi urged everyone to cast the votes rightfully. Dedicated to Voters’ Day, a Nukkad Natak on ‘My India My Vote’ and Voter Jugni was presented. Nukkad Natak was prepared under the guidance of Dr. Jyoti Gogia and Ms. Harmanu. Simran and Jahnavi from HMV addressed the audience with their patriotic speeches. A wonderful performance by NGO Chanan Manch members brought colour to the event. NSS volunteers also actively participated in the celebrations. A poster-making competition on voter awareness was organised, followed by a voter awareness rally in which the volunteers raised impactful slogans.

Principal Dr. Ekta Khosla and the institution was awarded with appreciation certificate for commendable work and support to the office of District Election Commission. The new voters were distributed Epic cards. Prize winners of various competitions from College and School sections were awarded with certificates. Members of Judgment Committee and best performing teachers and data entry operators were honoured for their dedicated efforts. At the end of the event, Tehsildar Sh. Sukhdev thanked the audience for participating in the event. The event was organized under the guidance of the Coordinators Mrs. Alka Sharma and Dr Jiwan Devi. The stage was handled by Mrs. Kuljit Kaur and Mrs. Lovleen Kaur. The event concluded with the recitation of National Anthem.
