Dr Anjana Bhatia honoured with National Award to Teachers 2025

Jalandhar September 11 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Dr. Anjana Bhatia, Associate Professor and Head of PG Department of Botany at Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, was felicitated by Chairman LAC and Vice President DAV CMC Justice (Retd) N. K. Sud & members LAC, Sh. Y. K. Sud, Sh. S. P. Sehdev and Dr Sushma Chawla. Principal Prof. Dr (Mrs) Ajay Sareen congratulated her on the occasion. Dr Anjana Bhatia was conferred the National Award to Teachers 2025 at a grand ceremony held on 5 September 2025, Teachers’ Day, at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi. The award was presented by the Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, in the presence of Union Ministers, Members of Parliament, and senior dignitaries.

On 4 September, awardees were invited to the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s residence, 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, for an interactive session. The Prime Minister personally congratulated the educators and said that teachers are the nation-builders. By fostering curiosity, innovation, and ethical values, they can shape India’s future. The session was also attended by senior ministers Sh. Dharmendra Pradhan Union Minister of Education, Sh. Jayant Chaudhary Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship & Sh. Sukanta Majumdar, Minister of State for Education. Dr Bhatia described the session as deeply inspiring, reinforcing the importance of innovation and engagement in teaching.

Dr Bhatia’s award highlights her gamified and nature-camp-based approach to teaching, which creates immersive, student-centred learning experiences. Her other contributions include serving as DBT Coordinator and DST CURIE Coordinator at HMV, leading projects in collaboration with the National Commission for Women, conducting research through the ANRF-funded TARE Research Project, mentoring students in research, skill-building, and community outreach programs, ensuring learning translates into social impact. The elated Principal Dr Ajay Sareen informed that a total of 21 teachers from higher education institutions across the country were selected through a rigorous process, including interviews by a jury appointed by the Ministry of Education.

Dr Bhatia is the only teacher from Punjab to receive this prestigious honour and is the first teacher among all higher education institutes associated with DAVCMC and GNDU to achieve this recognition. Dr Bhatia expressed her heartfelt gratitude the Principal Dr Sareen for her continuous support. She further acknowledged Dr Punam Suri, Justice N.K. Sud, Sh. Shiv Raman Gaur (DHE), and mentors at DAVCMC for their guidance. Principal Sareen, faculty, and students hailed this recognition as a historic achievement and a proud moment for the institution.
