Jalandhar February 5 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Zoology Department under DBT Star Scheme organized an Awareness Campaign on ‘World Cancer Day, under the able guidance of Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen to educate students and faculty members about cancer prevention, early detection, and the importance of spreading awareness. The event featured poster-making, slogan writing competitions, and an online quiz. Additionally, to symbolize solidarity with cancer fighters and survivors, badges with different coloured ribbons representing various types of cancer were distributed among the students and faculty members. Participants showcased their creativity and knowledge, emphasizing the importance of early diagnosis, lifestyle changes, and cancer awareness through visually appealing posters and impactful slogans.
The event successfully instilled a sense of responsibility among students to spread awareness and advocate for cancer prevention in society. Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen appreciated the initiative and encouraged the students to actively participate in such awareness programs. Dr. Seema Marwaha, Dean Academics and Head of Zoology Department congratulated the students for their efforts in contributing to global cancer awareness, reinforcing the World Cancer Day-2025 theme “United by Unique”. The posters and slogans were adjudged by Dr. Saloni Sharma, HOD, PG Department of Physics and Dr. Anjana Bhatia, HOD, PG Department of Botany.
The campaign concluded with the acknowledgment of winners and e-certificates to all the participants. Mrs. Deepshikha, Incharge Faculty of Sciences and HOD, PG Department of Chemistry, and Assistant Professors Mr. Sushil, Ms. Harpreet Kaur and Dr. Simmi were also present on this occasion. Dr. Sakshi Verma and Mr. Ravi Kumar, Assistant Professors in Zoology Department were the conveners. Mr. Sachin from Lab assisted in making all arrangements for the event.
