Basant Panchami Festival ‘Bahar’ Celebrated at Apeejay College of Fine Arts

Jalandhar February 5 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- The Student Welfare Association and Youth Club of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar, celebrated the festival of Basant Panchami with great enthusiasm under the event titled ‘Bahar’.

On this occasion, Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra expressed her thoughts, emphasizing that celebrating festivals is a wonderful way to keep students connected to their culture while also educating them about its significance. She highlighted the importance of Basant Panchami, mentioning that Basant is also known as the ‘King of Seasons’ (Rituraj), as it marks the transition of seasons. The blooming flowers after the harsh winter enhance the beauty of nature, spreading fragrance in all directions.

The event commenced with the worship of Goddess Saraswati. The Student Welfare Association and Youth Club organized a kite-flying competition for boys and a kite-decoration competition for girls.

Her energetic and charismatic hosting added an element of joy to the celebrations, keeping the audience engaged and creating a vibrant atmosphere.

To complement the Basant theme, students were honored for their best attire. Harshita (BCA 6th Semester) and Sukhman Kaur (B. Design 4th Semester) received awards for their beautiful traditional outfits.
The celebration also featured on-the-spot portrait-making, artificial jewelry stalls, fun games, and food stalls, which were thoroughly enjoyed by faculty members and students alike.

In the kite-flying competition, Sahil (B.Voc Data Science, 6th Semester) won the first prize and was also awarded the Best Kiter title. Ritish (B.Com 2nd Semester) secured the second position. In the kite-decoration competition, Shivalika (BFA 6th Semester) won the first prize.

Dr. Dhingra felicitated the winners with mementos and appreciated the efforts of Associate Professor Dr. Jagmohan Mago and Dr. Payal Arora, the Deans of Student Welfare and Youth Club, for successfully organizing ‘Bahar’.
Additionally, Ms. LovepreetKaur from the Punjabi Department played a significant role in making the event successful with her excellent stage anchoring.
