Jalandhar November 7 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Under the guidance of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, Nehru Yuva Kendra (My Bharat Jalandhar), Directorate of Youth Services Department, Government of Punjab (Youth Services Jalandhar), Baba Jiwan Singh Ji Welfare Youth Club celebrated National Unity Day at Lyallpur Khalsa College of Education for Women. On this occasion, Club President Kirti Kant Kalyan, College Director Dr. Parminder Kaur, all staff and students paid floral tribute to the statue of Vallabhbhai Patel. College Director Dr. Parminder Kaur told the teachers about the steps taken by Vallabhbhai Patel to improve the education sector and inspired them to remain united for the development of the country.

Giving information in this regard, Club President & Raised social worker Kirti Kant Kalyan addressed the students and said that Vallabhbhai Patel was born on October 31, 1875 in Nadiad, Gujarat. His full name was Vallabhbhai Jhaverbhai Patel. The first former Home Minister of India, he was popularly known as Sardar Patel. He was known as the Iron Man. He was a senior leader of the Indian National Congress. He played a leading role in the freedom struggle and along with Gandhiji, contributed significantly in liberating the country from the British.

Acting Principal of the college Dr. Ritu Geet Kaur said that on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Vallabhbhai Patel, this day is celebrated as National Unity Day remembering the works done by him. On this occasion, B.Ed and ECCE students Gurpreet and Neetu gave speeches, Poonam and Mamta shared their views about the achievements of life through poems. The students also did a joint race while showing their national unity and organization. Apart from this, refreshments were given to the college students by the club.

On this occasion, Dr. Jaspreet Kaur, Dr. Shalu Saini, Madam Astha makkar, Madam Vandana, Madam SimranJeet Kaur, Madam Sandeep Kaur, Madam Upma and the entire staff were present.
