Jalandhar February 25 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Apeejay College of Fine Arts held its Annual Sports Day with remarkable enthusiasm and spirited participation. The event was graced by Chief Guest Mr. Navjot Singh Mahal (AIG), Counter Intelligence, Jalandhar, while distinguished alumnus and acclaimed actor-singer Gurnam Bhullar attended as the Guest of Honour.
Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra formally welcomed the dignitaries with floral bouquets. In her address, she shared that the institution, inspired by the visionary principles of Founder Chairman Dr. Stya Paul and functioning under the dynamic leadership of Mrs. Sushma Paul Berlia, Chairperson, Apeejay Education, Apeejay Stya & Svran Group and Chancellor of Apeejay Stya University, along with Dr. Neha Berlia, Co-owner and Director, Family Business Board, Apeejay Stya & Svran Group and Lead Education Vertical Office Bearer, remains steadfast in its commitment to the holistic and multidimensional development of students by ensuring equal opportunities in academics and sports.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Dhingra stated that every participant is a champion, as participation itself is a noteworthy accomplishment. She observed that Mr. Navjot Singh Mahal’s presence serves as a source of inspiration for students to imbibe discipline and responsibility. She also expressed her pride in welcoming Gurnam Bhullar, whose successful journey in the fields of acting and music continues to motivate young aspirants, describing his visit as a truly inspiring homecoming.
The Annual Athletic Meet featured an array of track events, including 100m, 200m, and 400m races, the 4×100m relay, and the three-legged race. Field events comprised Shot Put, Long Jump, and Tug of War, witnessing enthusiastic participation from students.

In his address, Mr. Navjot Singh Mahal urged students to prioritize good health and balanced nutrition, exercise prudence in the use of technology, and channelize their intelligence in constructive directions. He emphasized that sports foster physical vitality, mental resilience, and emotional strength, and encouraged students to actively embrace responsible civic engagement.
Expressing his gratitude, Gurnam Bhullar shared that returning to his alma mater as Guest of Honour was both a privilege and an honour. He extended his best wishes for the continued growth of the institution and enthralled the audience with energetic renditions of his popular Punjabi songs.
The winners were felicitated with medals by Dr. Dhingra and Mr. Navjot Singh Mahal. The occasion was further enlivened by a vibrant Punjabi folk dance performance prepared under the able guidance of Ms. Lovepreet Kaur, which infused the audience with enthusiasm and cultural fervour.
The Best Athlete Award (Girls) was conferred for the second consecutive time upon Diya Talwar, while the Best Athlete Award (Boys) was presented to Vaibhav Batra.
Dr. Dhingra also placed on record her appreciation for the dedicated efforts of Dr. Monica Anand, Mr. Sahil Mahey of Department of Physical Education, Event Organizers- Dr. Payal Arora and Ms. Rajni Kumar for the successful execution of the event.
The celebration concluded on a triumphant note, exemplifying perseverance, teamwork, and the true spirit of sportsmanship.
