Jalandhar October 5 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Tributes were paid to the founding president, Dr. Stya Paul Ji, on his 107th birth anniversary at Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar. The program commenced under the guidance of Dr. Arun Mishra and Dr. Amita Mishra with students Harsifat, Ghazal, Ramneek, Harleen, Diya, and Sonal—winners at the National Youth Festival—singing a bhajan cherished by Dr. Stya Paul. While paying tribute to Dr. Stya Paul, Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra remarked that the college’s triumphant achievements in the fields of music, theatre, dance, and fine arts—extending all the way to the National Youth Festival—represent the fulfillment of Dr. Stya Paul’s vision.
While reading the message from Mrs. Sushma Paul Berlia—Chairperson of Apeejay Education and the Apeejay Stya & Svran Group, and Chancellor of Apeejay Stya University—she remarked that Dr. Stya Paul was not only a distinguished entrepreneur, an eminent educationist, and a great freedom fighter, but also a dedicated social worker who harboured immense love for children. He always encouraged them to dream big and to work tirelessly, day and night, to turn those dreams into reality. He was, in the true sense, an exemplary man for whom work itself was worship; he was a man of discipline who was always ready to help others. The truest tribute to him today would be to resolve to internalize the human values that were an integral part of his life and to pass them on to future generations.
Smt. Sushma Paul Berlia mentioned that he always inspired those who worked hard
Sharing fond memories of Dr. Stya Paul, Smt. Sushma Paul Berlia mentioned that he always inspired those who worked hard, often saying, “Just do your duty, and success will automatically come to you.” On this occasion, Harman Kaur, a student from the Music Department, mesmerized the audience by performing a melody in Raag Pahadi on the Dilruba. Under the guidance of Dr. Mickey Verma, Kanishka’s beautiful dance performance—capturing the poignant emotions of the playful lovers’ tiff and reconciliation between Radha and Krishna—left the audience deeply moved.
On this special occasion, Harsifat Kaur (M.A. Music Vocal, 3rd Semester) and Purva Aneja (B.A., 5th Semester)—students who exemplify moral values and excel in various fields—were honored with the Dr. Stya Paul Award, receiving both a certificate and a cash prize. A video showcasing key glimpses of Dr. Stya Paul’s life was screened to introduce new students to his life story. Inspiring the students, Dr. Dhingra urged them to understand the importance of discipline and to incorporate ethical values into their lives, so that they too might become eligible for the Dr. Stya Paul Award in the future.
