Jalandhar September 24 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- The Department of Hindi at Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar celebrated Hindi Diwas with great fervor and joy across the college campus. Students from various classes actively participated in a series of competitions organized throughout the week, including Essay Writing, Poetry Composition, Poetry Recitation, Debate, Story Narration, and Portrait Making.
Dr. Anjana, Head of the Department of Hindi, initiates this annual celebration to nurture a strong connection among students with the Hindi language and Indian culture. She highlighted that India, with its rich and diverse heritage, has produced numerous literary treasures in Hindi that continue to inspire generations.
The celebrations commenced with a captivating musical invocation as students of the Department of Music rendered Bhajans by Meera Bai under the guidance of Dr. Amita Mishra, creating a serene and inspiring atmosphere. The programme continued with Mehak sharing her insights on the significance of Hindi, Diya Talwar narrating her award-winning story “Vasiyat”, and Diya reciting a heartfelt poem. Ms. Chetna Sharma from the Department of English also recited a self-composed poem, earning admiration from the audience.
Dr. Neerja Dhingra, Principal of the college, expressed her delight at witnessing the students’ enthusiasm for Hindi Diwas. Addressing the gathering, she remarked, “At Apeejay, we provide students with platforms that foster holistic development while connecting them with Indian art, culture, and languages. In today’s globalized world, the appeal of foreign languages is growing, yet it is vital to cherish and preserve our own linguistic heritage. Hindi is not only one of the most widely spoken languages in India but also a vital link to our roots and cultural identity.”
Diya Talwar was the standout performer, winning 1st place in Narrating a Story
In the various competitions held through out the week, Diya Talwar was the standout performer, winning 1st place in Narrating a Story, 2nd in Poetry Recitation and Essay Writing, and sharing 2nd place in Poetry Composition with Shivam Sharma. Diya also excelled, securing 1st place in Poetry Composition, 2nd in Poetry Recitation and Essay Writing, and 3rd in Narrating a Story. Mehak earned 2nd place in Narrating a Story and shared 3rd place in Poetry Recitation with Srishti. Jasleen Kaur claimed 3rd place in Narrating a Story and shared 3rd in Essay Writing with Sneha Dubey. Poorva Aneja emerged 1st in Poetry Recitation.
Shivam Sharma won 1st place in Debate and shared 2nd place in Poetry Composition with Diya Talwar and Diya. Shivbha secured 2nd place in Debate and shared 3rd in Poetry Composition with Khushi Babbar. Nandini stood 1st in Essay Writing and shared 2nd place in Debate with Shivbha. Sneha Dubey achieved 3rd place in both Debate alongside Tisha Aggarwal and Essay Writing alongside Jasleen Kaur. Tisha Aggarwal shared 3rd in Debate. Khushi Babbar received 3rd in Poetry Composition with Shivbha. In Portrait Making, Naveen claimed 1st, Jaskeerat Kaur 2nd, and Mahi and Shruti shared 3rd place.
All students who performed exceptionally were felicitated with certificates and gifts in recognition of their achievements. Ms. Chetna Sharma of the Department of English managed the programme with grace, while Dr. Neerja Dhingra commended Dr. Anjana for successfully organizing a vibrant and meaningful celebration.
