Jalandhar October 4 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar paid tributed to its Founder Chairman Dr. Stya Paul on his 105th birth anniversary. The celebrations began with the recitation of Seth Ji’s favourite bhajanas. These bhajanas were recited were Harsifat, Anjali, Sukhmani, Anmol, Jasleen and Diya (National Youth Festival Winners) under the guidance of Dr. Arun Mishra and Dr. Amita Mishra of Department of Music.
Dr. Neerja Dhingra (Principal, ACFA) paid her humble tribute to Dr. Stya Paul Ji and said, “Our college is rising and shining and leaving its footprints everywhere. It’s making progress in every field be it is Fine Arts, Performing Arts, Academics, Sports etc. This is the true legacy of Seth Ji and all of us have been able to emerge victorious; it’s because of Seth Ji’s heavenly blessings and his farsightedness. It was his vision and dream which he had seen years ago and has been mainfested today.”
Dr. Dhingra also read the message of Mrs. Sushma Paul Berlia (Chairperson, Apeejay Education, Apeejay Stya & Svarn Group and Chancellor, Apeejay Stya University). Through the message Mrs. Berlia shared with the students and staff that Dr. Stya Paul was a reputed entrepreneur, an excellent educationist, a great freedom fighter and a dedicated social worker. He was Purushottam in the true sense who actually believed in ”Work is Worship”. He was a philanthropist in true sense who was always eager to help others. She added paying tribute to him in true sense would be to take pledge to pass on the human values that he strongly believed in and practiced through out his life.

On this occasion, Dr. Sumit Singh ‘Padam’ mesmerized everyone with his incredible performance on Sitar. Dr. Sunit Kaur (Head, Department of English) while sharing memories of Dr. Stya Paul Ji said, “He always inspired and encouraged hardworking people and motivate everyone around him that to do the work sincerely and to always put their best foot forward and such people certainly become successful in their lives and also make a difference in other people’s lives.”
A commendable presentation of ‘Satyam Shivam Sundaram’ dance by Hiten, Riddhima, Shivam and Vrinda under the direction of Dr. Micky Verma awed the gathering.
On this special occasion, annual award called – Seth Stya Paul Award is bestowed to two students every year for their sincere work and social services in order to encourage them to practice and pass on good values. In the academic session 2024 -25, this award was won by Shivansh( B.Com. Sem 5th) and Archa ( BBA Sem 5th). Both the students received Citation, certificates and cash prize.
To introduce the new students to the life of Dr. Stya Paul Ji, a video highlighting few glimpses of his life was shown.
Dr. Dhingra motivated the students and said that they should also understand the importance of discipline in their lives and make moral values a part of their lives so that they too can win Dr. Stya Paul Award in future.
