Jalandhar March 5 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- A three-day workshop was organized by the PG Department of Fine Arts of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar in which internationally renowned artist Dr. Vijay M. Dhore was present.

Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra, warmly welcomed Dr. Vijay Dhore and said, “Apeejay College has always prioritized and played an important role in the preservation and promotion of fine arts. College’s founder Chairman late Dr. Stya Paul Ji always dreamt of taking fine arts to the masses and have always envisioned the world where the art is cherished and admired. This glorious legacy is now being carried forward by his daughter Dr. Sushma Paul Berlia, President, Apeejay Education. ” She added that Apeejay Education Jalandhar’s Director Dr. Sucharita too has played an important role in the development of fine arts.

Seeing Dr. Vijay’s artistic proficiency, she added that from his experience and creativity, our students will definitely benefit.

Addressing the students at the beginning of the workshop, Dr. Vijay said,” Art works as a therapy. In fact, with art your can express your inner emotions which can be very soothing and with time, you will see that as an artist you will grow not just professionally but personally as well.” He asserted art too has gone through a lot of chages with time. Today sculpture, graphics and paintings- all are the variants of art and in all these art forms, role of drawing is essential. He added true art cannot be defined in words; it can only be perceived and felt.

Dr. Vijay said also talked about the influence of technology that has impacted art and introduced many changes in it and by establishing harmony in art, we can introduce new genres in the field of art on the basis of creativity and experimentation.

Dr. Dhore ended his address with the words,” I have not come at Apeejay not just to teach, but also to learn something from the young students who are the budding artists.”

Dr. Dhingra appreciated the efforts Dr. Rimpy Aggarwal (HOD, Fine Arts), Dr. Jeevan Kumari, Dr. Gagan Gambhir and Ms Amandeep for organizing this workshop.
