Jalandhar August 19 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- The Placement Cell, in collaboration with the PG Department of Economics and PG Department of Commerce & Management, organised an Entrepreneurship Awareness Seminar in the College Auditorium. It was held with the objective of creating awareness among students about entrepreneurship as a promising career option and encouraging them to develop an entrepreneurial mindset. The session was addressed by Mr. Shamsher Singh, Founder Director, BillionArc, an experienced professional from the BFSI (Banking, Financial Services and Insurance) domain, and Dr. Gaurav Chawla, Founder & Chairman, Sourish Chawla Foundation, who shared valuable insights on entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship development.

Dr. Gaurav Chawla and Mr. Shamsher Singh introduced students to the practical aspects of entrepreneurship and explained that entrepreneurship is not merely about starting a business but involves identifying opportunities, solving problems, creating value and developing the confidence to become a job creator rather than only a job seeker. The speakers highlighted that changing market conditions and technological developments require individuals to continuously upgrade their knowledge and skills and remain adaptable.

Students were also guided that lack of funds should not always be viewed as the primary barrier to entrepreneurship, as a strong business idea, proper planning, market understanding, networking and the ability to communicate and negotiate effectively are equally important. The importance of discipline, mentorship, continuous learning and commitment in an entrepreneurial journey was also discussed through several practical and relatable examples. They also explained to students how industry-oriented guidance, entrepreneurial learning and exposure to market opportunities can help aspiring entrepreneurs understand and develop their business ideas.

The speakers particularly stressed the importance of following ethical practices

The speakers particularly stressed the importance of following ethical practices while conducting business and understanding the responsibilities of an entrepreneur towards customers, employees and society. They highlighted the importance of awareness against mis-selling and misleading financial practices.
